Employers hiring in Schedule A occupations may more easily bring foreign workers permanently to the United States to fill those jobs because they do not have to prove there are not enough U.S. workers who are “able, willing, qualified, and available to accept the job opportunity.” This designation shortens the certification process by at least seven months. Despite its promise, Schedule A has not been updated in 30 years and currently includes only physical therapists and nurses.
